Our Journey GrainWood was founded in 2019 by master carpenter Ahmed Khan and designer Zara Ali with a shared passion for sustainable craftsmanship. Disheartened by mass-produced, short-lived furniture flooding the market, they envisioned a workshop where heritage woodworking techniques and ecological stewardship converge. Today, GrainWood employs a team of skilled artisans—many trained in the centuries-old timber traditions of Chiniot—alongside modern designers and project managers. Our wood is sourced exclusively from certified agroforestry plantations in Sindh and Punjab, ensuring legality and regeneration. Each plank undergoes moisture testing and kiln drying to prevent warping and ensure longevity. Our finishes are water-based, low-VOC varnishes and natural oils, protecting indoor air quality and highlighting the wood’s natural grain. We adhere to Pakistan Standard PS:1037 for wood products and ISO 14001 environmental guidelines, committing to continuous improvement in eco–practices. GrainWood’s mission is anchored by three principles: Heritage Craftsmanship, Sustainable Sourcing, and Client Collaboration. Heritage Craftsmanship preserves joinery methods—mortise-and-tenon, dovetail, through-tenon—and hand-planed surfaces, delivering structural integrity and timeless beauty. Sustainable Sourcing minimizes environmental impact through selective harvesting and wood-reuse programs, repurposing offcuts into smaller items. Client Collaboration means an interactive design process: mood boards, 3D renderings, and prototype mock-ups ensure your vision comes to life. We serve private residences, boutique hotels, and corporate lobbies across Pakistan, delivering installations on time and within budget. GrainWood pieces age gracefully, patinating over decades and becoming family treasures. Join us in redefining Pakistani furniture—where every creation tells a story of craft, conscience, and connection. |
